| One is limited by the LAW, the other is limited by age, bias tires, HP, no sway bars, gravity fed fuel, Japanese tax law, etc Each are cool in their own way. Sporty Subarus by kjrcace, on Flickr IMG_0264 by kjrcace, on Flickr IMG_0266 by kjrcace, on Flickr IMG_0263 by kjrcace, on Flickr | |

| Sweet cars! I still think you should put a street bike motor in one of those old subarus you have! | |

| Me too, just can't get done with enough day to day to get done with the restoration. It is moving along just very slow. I'm also toying with the idea of a flat 4 where the back seat goes. Maybe even a turbo flat 4. I haven't done any measuring but it would solve that reverse problem. Then with a few mods I could get it up to 360 Hp instead of 360 cc. Once I get away from trying to keep it original my mind just goes crazy. PS you wouldn't have one of those cycle motors laying around would you?

| vixen, It came from Arizona then Idaho. Probably originally sold in California. It is very complete, runs, stops which is very rare for these, and the body is near perfect rust wise. It only has some small dents and the interior is shot along with all the rubber. It drives like a bug too. I have a green one which is at my parents farm in marshall county which has had the heads shaved and it still has the original muffler. It also runs like a bug, but with a 412 engine. The original muffler I think helps with the performance of any of these cars because it's a two stroke and it needs the return shock wave to put the gas charge back in the cylinders. The shaved heads don't hurt either. It is also very complete but has rust issues and very little brakes. Think all four drums lined with brake fluid residue and coated brake shoes. Hopefully I'll be able to get that fixed soon since I got my brake cylinders back from the machine shop after being sleeved.

| I thought about that too. Just double the Hp. Maybe. I think that would be good swap. One guy is doing it to a 360 van I'm waiting to see how that went.

| I do have an 02 gsxr 750 motor. All it needs is a stator and stator cover. I would let it go cheap. | |

| I'm looking for some help does anyone have an engine and 5 speed trans, 4 hubs with hub mounting pcs lower a arms and rear suspensions components from a standard impreza interested in selling them? I'm thinking this is the best idea for my engine swap into a 360. From what I can find the subaru 2.0 - 2.5 weight about 236lbs and the trainy engine combo weigh 490 lbs so that leaves 254 lbs which seem heavy for the trans but could be right. The 360 engine trans combo weighs around 200 lbs tops so at most I"m adding 293 lbs. less than 2 heavy passengers. I'm loosing the back seat so the front suspension should handle the weight. I'm aiming for 1400 lbs total. I'd like to get to 5 lbs / hp. so I need around 280 hp. and a high geared differential because I plan to use 13" wheels. Hopefully I'll be able to stuff all this under the existing fenders which measure 48" in width. Any suggestions or technical help would be appreciated. Have at it.

| Damn that little guy should float with those kind of numbers. How wide of tires are you gonna run? Anything to small and your just going to melt them off at that feather weight. | |

| I'd go with he justy engine and trans rear mounted. The justys 3 cylinder bottom end can be pretty much bomb proof and way less weight. Either way this will be awesome | |

| Both the justy and the 2.0 would be mid mounted. The 2.0 puts more weight farther toward the front axle so I'm thinking that is the ticket. A standard 360 weights 925 lbs off the showroom floor. The front axle is a swing arm with king pins so I'm wanting to do a upper and lower arm. I found a tr6 front end I think will suffice. Tire width will be limited unless I widen the body. Which will most likely be required. Although burnouts would be fun and expensive with the standard 4 x 10 inch stock tires. The hope of having this be a sleeper is probably not going to happen. But I may pull it off.

| A N/A 4cyl subaru engine would take a lot of money to make 280hp if it even can?
Get a wrx motor and go stage 2 and you will be in that power range to the wheels. Buy a wrecked wrx so then you have everything you need. I would try to find a 06+ wrx so you get the 2.5. I bet you can find one for cheap that has been wrecked.
Also I dont think the 5 speed trans weighs that much. | |
